This article will help you get started using the Searchie extension.

Step 1 (Logging into the Extension)
You should be able to find the extension in your browser extension icons toolbar. If it is not visible in your toolbar visit this page chrome://extensions/
If this is your first time using the Searchie extension you will need to sign into your Searchie account. This is where all the videos/clips that are recorded by the extension will be imported to.
If this is your first time using the Searchie extension you will need click 'allow' when it requests to access your microphone and camera for recording clips.

Step 2 (Controls Explanation)
Screen only - This option will allow you to record your screen without the use of your camera at all.
Full desktop - Full desktop will allow you to change tabs and browse as the extension is recording your web browser. It will record all tabs that you switch to during the recording.
Current Tab - Current Tab will only record the current tab you are on
Application Window - Can be accessed through full desktop you can choose an external application that can be non web-related if you like and it will record there.
Microphone Audio - Allows you to turn on/off your microphone whether you'd like the audio to be included in your recording or not.
Microphone Source - Allows you to change your microphone device that the extension records audio from if you have multiple.
Camera Only - Allows you to record using your camera and microphone audio
Camera Source - Allows you to change your camera device that the extension records video from if you have multiple cameras.
Control Menu - Toggles on and off the display for the control menu at the bottom right hand corner of the screen (stop, pause and record)
Countdown Timer - Toggles whether you want a countdown timer of 3 seconds before every recording starts. If you cancel a recording before the countdown timer is finished the video will not be uploaded.
Start Recording - Starts recording your browser, based on the option you've selected (Full desktop, Current Tab)
X button - Cancels a recording while a recording is active or closes the extension.
Pause button - Pauses the extension to stop recording and can be resumed to start recording again.
Record/Circle Button - Starts a recording of your browser - Also becomes a Stop/Square Button - that stops the recording when you are finished.
Step 3 (Recording your first Video/Screenshare)
To start to record your first video you'll need to either select the 'Start Recording' Button or the Record/Circle button at the bottom of your screen as shown below.
When you feel it is time to stop recording you can stop the recording by clicking any of the options shown below:
- The extension icon
- The record button
- The stop sharing button
Step 4 (Viewing your Video in Searchie)
Once you're done recording you should see these notifications appear in the top right hand corner of your screen.
Next, a new tab will be opened in your browser that contains the video you just recorded. It will be processing here. If you refresh/wait for it to process it should appear in this tab eventually.
Now if you go into your Searchie account you will see the browser extension recordings in your video feed. These recordings will process just like other videos uploaded into the platform and you will receive a transcription if microphone/audio is turned on.
