Creating a Widget

This article will explain how to build a widget and embed it on your website within Searchie. Widgets are a super useful way for you to organize your content for your audience. It essentially creates a searchable platform that you can embed your website with your content for your audience to use.

What you need:

1. Be logged into Searchie

Step 1

Locate the widget icon on the sidebar and click it

Step 2

From here, go ahead and click on the "create new widget" to get started

Step 3

This interface will appear which you'll be using to create your new widget. Start by adding the widget to the folders you want the widget to include. This makes it so you can choose and exclude which videos you want to be searchable for keywords within your new widget.

Step 4 (optional)

Uploading a logo into your widget can help showcase your brand for your videos. To do this you will need to click on the upload logo button and have your logo ready in either a .jpg or .png file preferably on your local drive. After opening the file it will appear in the widget itself. You may also choose to toggle the name to hide the name below your logo if you wish.

Step 5 (optional)

You can also change the width of your logo if you'd like. Try using a number between the range of 1-700 pixels for the logo to display properly.

Step 6 (optional)

You can change the accent color of your app by using the hexadecimal color picker below. This color changes some color aspects like when users highlight a word, text and the go/enter button.

Step 7 (optional)

You are able to change the background color of the widget you are creating using the other hexadecimal color picker below. This option will allow you to change up the color scheme of your widget.

Step 8 (optional)

You can change the font of your widget by using the font list below. It will change some of the associate fonts within the widget and the searching functions.

Step 9

Give your widget a name by entering your desired name in the text box provided.

Step 10

Create your widget now for the first time by using the create button provided, if you have already created this widget, open/embed/save/delete buttons will appear instead.

Step 11

Your widget has now been created and is ready to be tested. To do this, you can either use the open or embed button shown above. If you choose to open the widget, it will open in a new tab where you will be able to search for keywords in the widget and return transcribed content. If you choose to embed you will get an embed code you can apply to your own personal website.
